Founded in 1903, Mingde School is one of prestigious public high schools in Changsha China. Over 100,000 students including 17 National Academy members have graduated from the School.
More than 25,000 students from kindergarten to grade 12 are studying at 8 campuses.
Chairman Mao Tse-tung, the leader of Chinese Communist Party, once spoke highly of Mingde for its contribution to China’s education. Chiang Kai-shek, the leader of Chinese Nationalist Party and opponent to Mao Tse-tung, captioned Mingde “Aim at Perfection” in his inscription.
The School started to collaborate on Sino-Canadian Exchange Students Program (SCESP) with Canadian high schools in 2009. With a MOU signed in March 2012, Mingde cooperates with Victoria Sooke School District, Camosun College and University of Victoria on the Acedemic Pathway program.
After two years’ study of Chinese curriculum and preparation for English at Mingde, students from SCESP have options to study in Canada for one year to prepare for studying at universities in English-speaking countries. 45 students from SCESP are currently studying at the University of Winnipeg Collegiate in Canada, while almost 100 at Mingde in Changsha, China. 2 Canadian teachers are currently teaching at SCESP at Mingde.
